Women Owned Law Scholarship ⋆
NPLA is excited to announce a new scholarship opportunity for law students to join Women Owned Law.
Women Owned Law (WOL) is organization that supports its members in their business endeavors at every point in the business life-cycle. WOL advocates on behalf of women legal entrepreneurs and have been instrumental in raising the profile of women entrepreneurs in the law.
Especially on the plaintiff side, where firms tend to be smaller, understanding how to finance a law firm on contingency fees, and how to market for clients is crucial. Even those who join existing firms still benefit enormously from building one’s own practice and having business generation skills. Despite how important these skills are, however, law schools do not teach them!
To that end, NPLA is thrilled to be partnering with WOL to offer 10 law students membership with WOL. Membership comes with mentoring opportunities, access to webinars/in person events focused on various aspects of law firm operations and management, and the opportunity to attend the WOL Symposium in April 2026, in Philadelphia. All NPLA/WOL scholars will be paired with a dedicated mentor according to the scholar’s interests and geographic focus.
WOL hosts in-person events across four primary regions—New York, Philadelphia (including South Jersey and Delaware), Boston, and the DC Metro area. However, members from anywhere can participate, as WOL also offers a wide range of virtual events. Law students studying in those key regions will have access to in-person programming not available elsewhere, but NPLA welcomes applications from students nationwide who wish to take advantage of WOL’s valuable resources and community.
This scholarship is for membership into the WOL organization only. However, NPLA intends to put out another scholarship application in the new year for those who are interested in attending the Annual Symposium. Priority for that conference scholarship will go towards NPLA/WOL scholarship awardees selected through this membership application process.
NPLA and WOL will select scholarship winners based on their description of how they intend to take advantage of the WOL network and resources, and how joining WOL will help them achieve their future career and practice goals.
The deadline to apply is December 1st, 2025 at 9 PM ET/12 PM PT.
