NELA Annual Convention
This conference focuses on employment law, including including immigration law, wage and hour cases, trauma informed client care, trial skills and ethics. The full agenda can be found here.
The NPLA Scholarship will cover registration fees, flights, hotels, and Ubers/Lyfts to and from the airport. Scholarship recipients will be expected to cover the expenses for their meals and other incidental costs, though many meals throughout the conference will be provided by the conference. NPLA will book flights and hotels for students, and will reimburse ground transportation costs after the conference. Additionally, based on available accommodations, scholarship recipients may be (or will be) asked to share a hotel room.
Students who receive the scholarship must be able to attend at least 3 days of the entire conference.
Law students who are local to the New Orleans may apply for sponsorship to pay for conference registration fees, but are not eligible for hotel or ground transportation costs.
Applications are DUE on Friday, April 17th at 11:59 PM PST.
The Board of NPLA will be evaluating applications and is looking for students who are enthusiastic about the mission of employment law and have actively pursued experiences within the plaintiff-side employment bar.
Finally, please keep in mind that all scholarship recipients are required to abide by our Code of Conduct and agree to make every effort to be communicative with the NPLA board as they work to bring you to the conference. As a reminder, NPLA is student run, so NPLA's board very much appreciates your cooperation and you should not expect travel accommodations on par with a private firm's travel allowance. This means that your flight may not be non-stop, and that your hotel may not be booked at the conference hotel.
If you write that you do not need a hotel or would be willing to pay the cost yourself if that means not sharing a room, we will hold you to that if you are accepted. If you back away from that position and NPLA accepts your application, we reserve the right to rescind your scholarship acceptance.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email Lisa, NPLA's Director of Resource Development, at lisa@nationalplaintiffslawassociation.org.
